About the Proposal
The main theme of the proposal is “Sustainable Regional and Business Models for Valorization of Academic Research”. The proposal is timely given that Research and Development expenditure by Governments has increased significantly in recent years and there is now worldwide interest in translating R&D results developed in Universities and Research Institutes into regional development through valorization and commercialisation for research outputs.

Main Objectives of the Project
The main objectives of the project are:

  1. To integrate interregional collaboration for R&D valorization through the transfer/expansion of an existing R&D valorization mechanism to a network of research entities.
  2. To improve the regional potential for business – research collaboration in the indicative sample of six countries through transfer of regional policies and practices.
  3. To develop and apply improved regional policies which create and support a regional environment favourable for innovation and growth through expansion of industries that are knowledge – based and technologically competitive.
